Southwest Iowa Rural Industrial Transformation Pilot

This pilot initiative brings together local governments, workforce organizations, educational institutions, infrastructure partners, and private industry to build a coordinated regional development system capable of supporting modern industrial growth.

The goal of the initiative is to prepare Southwest Iowa to attract and support companies operating in sectors such as:

  • Advanced Manufacturing

  • Semiconductor & Electronics Supply Chains

  • Modular Data Infrastructure

  • Biomanufacturing

  • Resilient Energy Systems

By aligning regional leadership, infrastructure planning, workforce pipelines, and industry partnerships, the coalition establishes the foundation for sustainable long-term economic development while creating a replicable model for rural industrial transformation across the United States.

A National Model for Rural Industrial Transformation

The Southwest Iowa pilot serves as the first prototype for a scalable rural industrial development model.

As the coalition matures and local leadership assumes long-term ownership, The Way Forward will transition into a strategic advisory role while expanding this framework to additional rural regions across the country.

This initiative demonstrates how strategic leadership, coordinated partnerships, and aligned investment can unlock new economic opportunities in rural America.
